This a blog post to record my applications of SDE summer internships in 2023, and share the recruitment process and experience of each company. The timeline will not be accurate. I have not systematically grinding Leetcode, so I may overestimate the difficulty of applying for most companies. Easy is something I can solve immediately, medium is something I have to think for a 3 minutes, and hard is something I give up directly.

The biggest change in job hunting this year is definitely the emergence of ChatGPT. It took over all my writing-related tasks, such as writing emails, cover letters, and preparing BQ questions, on the second day of its release. It greatly improved my work efficiency.
i.e:
“write an email to my recruiter to rearrange the interview”
or
“In my X project I encounter Y issue, I did Z for it. Rephrase the story to answer the question ‘Describe a challenge you recently encounter. Use Star method.’”

Interesting OA, one leetcode style algorithm two implementation on API adn SQL. I only did the algorithm, got HireVue virtual OA and got rejected.
Capital One 和 Visa
Very similar. OA has 2 easy and one easy-to-medium. Multiple choice BQ. Rejected.

OA has one easy, one medium and one hard. I only did first two but still got an interview. I delayed the interview because of exams and the recuirter told me all positions are filled. But they also told me apply directly through him the next year. So I guess it is always good to do job hunting each year?

This is an interesting one. Overall technical interview is fairly easy. The OA is one warm-up, two easy. Interview is a couple of warm-up leetcoding style questions you can do in 5 minutes and a bunch of general software engineering common knowledge. However, there is a long BQ interview I guess it weights about the same as technical round. I applied for a HK position. Then the interviewer asked me why I was applying for a HK position if I am UK base, and I said that I hadn’t been back in three years and I missed home too much. About a week later, I received a rejection letter. I then applied for the UK position and got an offer. So be mindful what you are going to say.
Citadel
Auto OA. Didn’t do it.

Rejected right after apply. Probably because I do not have any hardware experience.
